1703 Covid-19 cases confirmed in Afghanistan

Health authorities say that the total number of Covid-19 cases has reached 1,703 in Afghanistan. The Ministry of Public Health, on Monday, April 26, confirmed that 172 new cases of the pandemic virus were reported in the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, 57 people, who were infected by the virus, have passed away, and 220 others have recovered.  

The pandemic outbreak continue to climb while doctors working in the frontline complain about shortages of medical kits and other equipment. Though doctors and nurses working in the frontline in the capital Kabul refuse to talk to press, some video clips leaked by medical staffs show they are complaining about shortages of gloves and other medical supplies.

The official record shows that new cases were reported in Balkh (34), Herat (33), Kabul (27), Kandahar (21), Paktia (8), Baghlan (8), Kunduz (7), Sar-e-Pul (5), Ghor (5), Samangan (4), Nimruz (4), Faryab (4), Nangarhar (3), Laghman (3), Khost (3), Helmand (2), Paktia (1) and Panjshir (1) provinces.

According to reports, the global pandemic coronavirus has taken 206,565 lives and over 2.9 million people have been infected by the virus.
