Baheer Ahmadi, spokesperson for Kandahar governor, told Kabul Now that as many as 10 Pakistani military forces including Taliban militants were killed and eight others wounded in a counterattack by the Afghan forces in a border village of Spinboldak district of the southern Kandahar province.
According to Ahmadi the clashes erupted after Pakistani military forces along with the Taliban insurgents launched a joint offensive on security outposts of the Afghan border forces on Monday, October 21.
He, however, said that the exact number of the death toll of the Pakistani forces and the Taliban militants was not yet clear.
Ahmadi further noted that Afghan forces did not suffer any casualty in the battles, adding that sporadic clashes still were fought between the two sides.
On the other hand, Safiullah Amiri, a member of Kunduz provincial council, confirmed to Kabul Now that 17 Afghan security forces (13 local police forces and four national police forces) were killed in a Taliban attack in Aiabad district of the northern Kunduz province on Monday night.
He added that one police force was wounded in the battles.
Esmatullah Muradi, spokesperson for Kunduz governor, however, stated that eight police soldiers were killed in the attack while claiming that the Taliban suffered a heavy casualties in the battles with the Afghan forces.
In a statement, the Taliban militants have claimed that they have killed the police chief of Aliabad district.
