Badghis police chief assassinated in Kabul

Sharifullah Chamtoo, the police chief of the western Badghis province, was killed in an armed attack in PD5 of Kabul city, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) confirmed.

The MoI Spokesperson Nasrat Rahimi told Kabul Now that the incident happened today, around 12:45 pm, October 24, in Ghazni bus station, belonging to PD5 of Kabul city.

He further noted that one of Chamtoo’s security guard was wounded in the attack.

Claiming responsibility of the attack, the Taliban said that Chamtoo and his bodyguard were killed in the attack.

The Taliban seem to have adopted a new tactic in recent month. They assassinate security and government officials in Kabul.

The incident comes while on October 21, the Taliban killed Former district, the then governor of Jaghatu district of Maidan Wardak province.
