Taliban shadow governor for Samangan killed in airstrike, says defense minister

Earlier today, September 15, the Taliban shadow governor for Samangan province, Mawlawi Nooruddin, and four other terrorists were killed in an air strike in Dara-e-Soof district of Samangan province, Asadullah Khalid, acting minister of defense, said in a tweet.

Mohammad Hanif Rezaie, spokesperson for Afghan 209 Shaheen Military Corps, told Etilaat-e-Roz that the strike targeted a vehicle that was carrying terrorists around 09:000 AM.

The Taliban, however, have not commented regarding the incident so far.

Situated in the north of the country, Samangan has recently witnessed a surge in Taliban movements.

The Afghan security forces have conducted significant military operations against the Taliban insurgents in recent days.
