President Ghani visits Saudi Arabia

Leading a high level delegation, President Ghani left Kabul for an official visit to Saudi Arabia today, August 24, Presidential Palace said in a statement.

The statement said that Ghani will hold separate meetings with Saudi King, Salman Bin Abdulaziz, and other officials of the country.

The statement, however, did not provide any further details regarding the visit.

This comes while US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad has already started the ninth round of peace talks with the Taliban negotiators in Doha, capital of Qatar.

On December 17, 2018, the third round of talks was held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE, with focus to bring Saudi Arabia on board and push the country to exert its influence on its close ally, Pakistan.
