Afghan MPs approve mid-year budget review

On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, Afghan MPs approved mid-year budget review for the fiscal year 1398 (solar year).

Mahdi Rasikh, a member of the parliament, told Etilaat-e-Roz that the MPs approved mid-year budget review, which was previously rejected by the parliament.

The government amended all disputed points in mid-year budget review other than the budget allocated for newly-founded entities, said Afghan lawmakers.

Rasikh, however, noted the budget allocated for newly-founded entities was revoked by the parliament’s budget and finance committee.

On July 31, 2019, a day before the summer recess of the parliament, the Afghan MPs rejected the budget plan, and asked the Ministry of Finance to amend it. A day later, President Ghani issued a decree, calling the MPs for an urgent session to approve the mid-year annual budget.
