The World Food Program (WFP) says it has provided assistance to 140 families affected by recent flooding in the provinces of Herat and Farah.
In a statement released on Monday (January 5 ), WFP said the floods caused damage to homes, agricultural land, and infrastructure, and resulted in casualties.
The agency added that it swiftly deployed emergency response teams to the affected areas following the floods.
Several provinces across the country experienced heavy snowfall and rainfall last week, leading to flash floods.
Meanwhile, the Taliban-controlled Department of Disaster Management said that flooding and heavy rains in 11 provinces, including Herat and Farah, have killed at least 12 people and injured 11 others.
The department also reported that 274 houses were completely destroyed as a result of the floods and rainfall.
