Taliban Courts Carry Out Multiple Judicial Punishments Across Afghanistan

December 11, 2025 – Taliban judicial authorities in several provinces have implemented a series of court-ordered punishments following the approval of Afghanistan’s Supreme Court, according to official statements.

On December 10, 2025, the Primary Court of Behsud (First District) in Maidan Wardak province carried out ta’ziri punishments against two individuals, including a woman, convicted of illicit relations.” The individuals had been sentenced to one to fifteen months of imprisonment and 25 lashes each. The ruling was executed in the presence of the Appeal Court’s chief judge Mufti Abdullah Farqani and other officials, concluding with a prayer.

On December 11, 2025, the Primary Court of Gosfandi district in Sar-e-Pul province enforced ta’ziri penalties against five people, including two women, convicted of “illicit relations and alleged adultery.” Sentences ranged from one to three years of imprisonment and 25 to 39 lashes. The punishment was carried out inside the provincial Appeal Court compound in the presence of judicial, administrative, military personnel, and members of the public.

Also on December 11, 2025, the Primary Court in Barmal district of Paktika province executed ta’ziri punishments against two individuals found guilty of “planning murder and acts of destruction.” Both were sentenced to two years and six months in prison and 30 lashes each, after the ruling received final approval from the Supreme Court.

On the same date, the Urban Primary Court of Kabul’s Fourth Zone, under the Criminal Division, carried out ta’ziri punishments against two individuals, including a woman, accused of adultery. The court had sentenced each to one year and six months of imprisonment and 39 lashes, which were executed after confirmation from the Supreme Court.
