KABUL – Pakistan’s police have detained around 30 Afghan nationals who arrived in Islamabad on a flight from Kabul on Thursday (November 20). One passenger told KabulNow that all travellers held valid visas, passports, and return tickets, yet police stopped them “without any explanation.”
According to the passenger, the group included women and children, and some had travelled to Pakistan for medical treatment. They said they had been stranded at the airport since 1 P.M., without access to food or water.
Police have reportedly stamped the passengers’ passports with exit marks, informing them that they will be sent back to Afghanistan on Friday.
Another source alleged that some Afghans were allowed to enter Islamabad only after paying money to police.
Reports indicate that similar incidents have occurred in recent days. The detentions come amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban, as Islamabad intensifies arrests and deportations of Afghan nationals.
