KABUL – A young man was fatally stabbed in the Narang district of eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province, local sources have confirmed.
The victim, identified as Hilal, was attacked on the evening of Saturday, August 30, in Bar Narang village, reportedly following a dispute over money with another individual.
Hilal sustained serious knife wounds and was transported to Nangarhar Regional Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to the sources.
Further details about the incident, including the identity of the suspected assailant, have not been released.
Local Taliban authorities in Kunar have yet to comment on the killing.
The incident comes amid a sharp rise in violent crime across Afghanistan under Taliban rule. In the past week alone, at least seven such deaths have been reported, including those of two young children—a five-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy.
Several countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia, continue to advise against travel to Afghanistan, citing ongoing security threats and rampant criminal activity.
Despite the Taliban’s repeated claims of having restored security, they face mounting criticism from citizens, human rights groups, and activists over their failure to prevent violence and carry out transparent investigations into such crimes.
