24-Year-Old Man Shot Dead in Kandahar Amid Rising Violent Crime

KABUL – Armed men shot and killed a 24-year-old man in Kandahar’s fourth district, local sources confirmed on Monday.

The victim, identified as Ahmadullah, was gunned down in front of his home on Sunday night. According to sources, he owned a grocery shop in the Charsoi area of Kandahar city.

A family member confirmed the killing on social media, claiming he was murdered by robbers.

The incident has sparked anger among residents on social media, with many urging the Taliban to take serious steps to improve security.

The Taliban have yet to comment on the attack.

The killing comes amid a surge in criminal violence and targeted attacks across Afghanistan. Just a day earlier, reports emerged of four bodies discovered in Badakhshan. Similar incidents have been reported in several provinces in recent weeks, fueling public concern over deteriorating security despite Taliban claims of security since returning to power.

Rights groups and activists say the Taliban are failing to uphold their responsibility to protect civilians and have not conducted thorough investigations into such killings.
