Young Man Shot Dead in Kabul Amid Rise in Mysterious Killings

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – A young man who had recently returned from the United Kingdom was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in Kabul on Thursday, according to local sources.

The victim, identified as Hazrat Noor, originally from Panjshir province, was gunned down in the city’s sixth district. Noor had returned to Afghanistan just three days before the incident, sources added.

As of now, the motive behind the killing and the identities of those responsible remain unknown. Taliban security authorities have not commented on the case.

Details about Noor’s background, including whether he also held British citizenship or the reason of his recent return to Afghanistan, remain unclear.

This incident comes amid a troubling rise in mysterious killings and criminal activities across Afghanistan. In the past week, at least seven such deaths have been reported, including those of two young children — a five-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy.

In recent years, several countries, including the UK and the US, have repeatedly warned their citizens not to travel to Afghanistan due to security risks and persistent criminal activities.

The Taliban, who claims to have restored security since their return to power, are facing increasing criticism from citizens, rights groups, and activists for their failure to protect civilians and conduct transparent investigations into these killings.
