KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Local sources have said that the body of a man was found beheaded in southern Kandahar’s Shah Wali Kot district.
The 24-year-old was executed by unknown assailants while he was returning from his farm in Wali village on Sunday night, the sources added.
The motive behind the killing is unclear, but sources indicated he was killed over “personal enmity”.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately known.
The perpetrators have not yet been identified. However, Taliban’s provincial authorities say they have initiated an investigation into the killing.
This incident comes amid a surge in mysterious killings and criminal activities across Afghanistan in recent years. The country’s citizens are increasingly concerned about their safety and security, which adds to the mounting challenges they have faced since the Taliban’s takeover, despite the Taliban’s claims of maintaining security.
Rights groups and activists have accused the ruling Taliban of neglecting their responsibility to provide security for the people and failing to conduct thorough investigations into such killings.
