Two killed in separate incidents in Nangarhar and Kapisa provinces

Local sources have said that two men including a former police officer were killed in separate incidents on Friday in the eastern Nangarhar and northeastern Kapisa provinces.

A former police officer identified as Hamidullah was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Friday night in Goshta district, located in the northeast of Nangarhar, one local source in the province said.

A resident of Goshta stated that Hamidullah had returned from Pakistan following the Taliban’s “general amnesty” for former members of the security forces, among others.

Under the previous government, Hamidulalh led a group of local policemen that was created by Faraidoon Momand, a former member of parliament, the source added.

The Taliban officials in the province have not commented on the killing yet.

According to Abdul Fatah Fayez, Taliban’s security spokesperson in Kapisa, a 45-year-old man was killed on Friday 10am in a separate incident in the PD3 area of Mohammad Raqi city, the capital of Kapisa.

The man identified as Hamesha Gul was killed by two fellow villagers. The motive behind the killing was reportedly due to “family dispute”.

Fayez added that two suspects, one identified as Raqibullah, were detained by local police and efforts are ongoing to arrest the second suspect involved in this incident.

Despite the Taliban’s announcement of “general amnesty” following their return to power, the group has been consistently accused of carrying out widespread revenge killings, enforced disappearances, and torture of former security officers, former officials, and individuals who were associated with working for US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
