Teenage boy and girl commit suicide in Kapisa province

According to local sources, separate incidents of suicide were reported in the northeastern Kapisa province, involving a teenage boy and a girl.

Abdul Fatah Fayez, the Taliban’s security spokesperson in the province, stated that a 17-year-old girl named Farmina took her own life with an AK-47 in the Kot village of the Tagab district on Monday.

The motive behind this suicide remains unclear; however, sources informed KabulNow that “domestic violence” could be a possible cause.

The source further added that Farmina was coerced into a relationship with a man against her will.

In another incident in Hesay Awali Kohistan, a 17-year-old boy named Rahmatullah ended his life with a hunting gun on Tuesday.

Taliban officials confirmed the incident but did not provide details regarding the motive behind the suicide.

However, local sources suspect that Rahmatullah took his own life due to “poverty.”

Afghanistan has seen a sharp rise in suicide, especially among women, since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021.
