Taliban detains former female police officer and her sisters in Daikundi province

Taliban agents detained a former female police officer along with her two sisters from the central Daikundi province on Thursday, local sources said.

According to one source the former police officer identified as Sabro Rezaie worked as head of the recruitment section in the provincial police command under the previous government.

Another source close to Rezaie stated that the Taliban arrested Rezaie on alleged charges of “abusing and criticizing the Taliban on Facebook” during her tenure in the previous government.

Rezaie and her sisters remain in Taliban detention since Thursday and attempts by local tribal and religious elders to free her have been unsuccessful.

One source speaking on condition of anonymity revealed that the Taliban Intelligence Agency had asked the group’s provincial security command to prepare a list of former members of the security forces.

Taliban officials in the province have not commented.

The arrest of Rezaie and her sisters is yet another case amid the Taliban’s relentless campaign of arresting, torturing, or killing former members of the previous government and armed forces despite the group declaring a general amnesty after it seized power in August 2021.

A few days ago, Rahmatullah Ibrahimi, head of the police traffic in Daikundi, was arrested by the Taliban from the province.
