Taliban accused of torture and killing of former female intelligence officer

Local sources in the southern Helmand province have accused the Taliban of torturing and killing a former female intelligence officer in the province.

One source told KabulNow on Friday that the woman, identified as Bibi Zahra, was an employee in the National Directorate of Security (NDS) under the previous government.

Zahra was abducted from her home and her body was found two days ago in PD 3 of Lashkargah city, the source added.

The source said that she had been tortured and then shot dead.

Taliban officials in the province have not commented.

The Taliban has been accused of large-scale campaign of arrests, torture and killing of hundreds of people working for the previous government, despite declaring a “general amnesty” shortly after taking over.
