Gunmen Kill Four People in Southeastern Afghanistan

Sources in the southeastern provinces of Paktia and Khost have reported that unknown gunmen shot and killed at least four people in these two provinces.

According to sources in the Samkani district of Paktia province, unidentified gunmen entered the residence of former local police commander Akbar Khan at around 11:00 pm on Wednesday and took his life, along with the lives of his two young sons.

In another incident on Wednesday in the capital city of Khost province, unknown gunmen killed a man named Ghafoor and swiftly fled the area.

The motive behind these killings remains unknown, and no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the incidents.

Local Taliban officials in Paktia and Khost provinces have not yet commented on these two incidents.
Over the past two years, since the Taliban assumed control in Afghanistan, there has been a concerning rise in targeted and mysterious killings.

Despite the Taliban’s claims of establishing security in the country, there have been ongoing complaints from the public regarding the escalating number of such incidents. The group has been accused by the people of inadequately addressing the safety and security concerns in the country.
