Infighting among Taliban fighters in Samangan leaves one dead

Infighting among the Taliban forces in Samangan province have left a close relative of the group’s brigade commander dead in Hazrat Sultan district of the northern province, local sources confirmed to KabulNow.

A source among the Taliban, who asked not to be named, confirmed to KabulNow that the fallen fighter named Abdul Khaliq, who was the sister’s son of the Taliban’s brigade commander in Samangan, Jalal Hanafi.

Enjoying his uncle’s influence, Abdul Khaliq maltreated with the other Taliban fighters which ultimately forced one of them to shoot him dead after an argument.

Local Taliban authorities did not comment about the incident.

This is not the first time that a deadly infighting is erupting among the Taliban fighters. Several infightings have been reported in other provinces as well.
