The Taliban on Sunday released Parisa Mubariz, a women’s rights activist, and her brother in Afghanistan’s northeastern province of Takhar.
Speaking to KabulNow, Mubariz said she had been tortured by Taliban intelligence agents after refusing to reveal her mobile phone password. They have kept the device, she said.
Parisa Mubariz, a founding member of the Women’s Right to Protest Movement of Takhar, and her brother were arrested from their home on Saturday.
Their arrest was condemned by the EU, HRW and the UN.
