Taliban Temporarily Detain Seven UNICEF Employees in Panjshir

Credible sources report to Kabul Now that the Taliban temporarily detained seven UNICEF domestic employees in the northeastern Panjshir province. These employees including four men and three women were out to Darah district in northern Panjshir last week to survey children, students and nursing mothers in this province.

The sources also said that this number of UNICEF employees had travelled to Majnastu village in the Dar-e Abdullah Khel area of the Dara district in coordination with the local Taliban officials in Panjshir province, but were arrested by the group’s forces and detained in their military base.

According to the sources, at the end of the day, the Taliban released these UNICEF employees but did not allow them to survey the area.

Local sources in Panjshir province also report that the Taliban have a heavy and wider military presence in most of the villages of this province and this presence has made life difficult for the local residents.

Panjshir province has been the center of heavy clashes between the Taliban and the National Resistance Front (NRF) forces for more than a year.

While the snow season is approaching, the clashes between the Taliban and the NRF forces have decreased in this province.
