Taliban Shot Dead a Civilian in Daikundi

Sources in Nili, the capital city of Daikundi province, report that Taliban forces have shot dead a civilian in this city.

Sources told Kabul Now that this incident took place in the afternoon on Friday, December 16 at one of the Taliban checkpoints in the village of Pai-e-Nili.

The sources identified the victim as Khodabakhsh, an original resident of Miramor district, Daikundi province.

One of Khodabakhsh’s relatives, who chose to stay anonymous, told Kabul Now that Khudabakhsh had gone to Nili to process his work documents but then was targeted while passing through a Taliban checkpoint.

According to this source, Khodabakhsh was an employee of the population(civil) registration authority in Miramor district. Khodabakhsh was shot a bullet in the back and he died before reaching the hospital, the source added.

On the other hand, Sediqullah Abed, the Taliban’s police chief for Daikundi province, confirmed the incident and said that the investigation is going on in this regard.

This is not the first time that the Taliban has targeted civilians at checkpoints. Before this, similar incidents have been reported in Kabul and some other provinces.

Last year, Zainab Abdullahi, a young girl in Kabul, was shot dead by Taliban forces while returning from a wedding ceremony in Dasht-e-Barchi area, in the western part of this province.
