Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Summons Taliban Diplomat over Border Clashes

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan in a press release announced that the ministry has summoned the Charge d’affaires of the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad over the recent border clashes that erupted between the Taliban and Pakistani forces at the Spinboldak-Chaman border crossing.

In the press release published by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, December 16, it is stated that the “unprovoked cross-border shelling” by the Taliban border forces in the Chaman-Spinboldak area has resulted in the loss of life, injuries and damage to property.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry condemned the clash and emphasized that the protection of civilians is the responsibility of both sides and the recurrence of such incidents must be prevented.

According to the ministry’s press release, in the conversation with the Taliban diplomat in Islamabad, it was agreed to use the established institutional mechanism that is created in this regard.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan concluded the press release by reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining fraternal relations with Afghanistan and emphasized that peace along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border is important in this regard.

This comes after the clash erupted between the Taliban and Pakistani forces at the Spinboldak-Chaman border crossing. Both sides have reportedly endured casualties.
