UNICEF: 15 million Children in Afghanistan and South Asian Countries in Need of Assistance

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) tweeted today Saturday, 12 November stating that floods caused by climate change have impacted Afghanistan and other countries in South Asia leaving over 15 million boys & girls in need of assistance in 2022.

“It’s now critical to prepare children to live in a climate-changed world through climate change education.”, said UNICEF.

Afghanistan has been suffering from drought and devastating floods in recent years.

It is reported that this year alone, Afghanistan endured more than two billion dollars in damage caused by climate change.

According to UNAMA, “Afghanistan is one of the least prepared countries for climate shocks, but it is ranked the sixth most affected in the world to climate-related threats.”
