22 Killed, Wounded After Vans Fall Off Mountain Roads in Daikundi

At least nine people were killed and 13 others wounded after two vans filled with passengers veered off narrow mountain roads and rolled down cliffs in the central Daikundi province. The incidents took place in Meramoor and Shahristan districts of the province.

Nine passengers, including a woman, were killed and nine others were wounded in one accident that occurred around 02:00 PM on Saturday, October 29, in Meramoor district, according to the Taliban police in Daikundi.

The wounded are said to be in critical condition.

In this accident, a van filled with passengers had left the district’s center for a remote village named Ushtoo. The vehicle slipped off a mountain road and rolled down the cliffs.

The other incident took place around 11:30 AM on the same day, Saturday, October 29, in Shahristan district of Daikundi.

Four passengers, including a woman, were wounded after their riding van veered off a narrow mountain road and then overturned. The van which was carrying a total of 11 passengers had left Kabul for Nili, the capital center of Daikundi province.

The wounded passengers are said to be in good condition. Daikundi is a remote province with narrow mountain roads which usually witness deadly traffic accidents.
