Shah Mirza, a prosecutor in Sheberghan, the capital of the northern Jowzjan province, was killed in a blast, a local source said.
Ahmad Masoud Nadim, the spokesperson for Jowzjan police, said the incident took place today, May 20, near a teacher training center in PD1.
The bomb was placed in Shah Mirza’s vehicle, according to Mr. Nadim.
A surge in targeted violence is on the rise across the country. Dozens of government workers, journalists, lawyers lost lives to target killings over the last months.
