Afghan elite forces freed five people from Taliban detention in Kunduz

In an operation conducted last night, May 30, the Afghan elite forces rescued five people from the Taliban detention in Qush Tapa area of Kunduz city, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

At least 12 Taliban militants were killed and eight others wounded, according to the statement.

The Taliban has not made any comment in this regard.

Located in the northeastern part of the country, Kunduz is a volatile province where the Taliban controls swaths of territory.

Over the past weeks, the Afghan commands conducted a number of rescue operations to set free the Afghan people and forces who were kept by the Taliban. On May 26, 62 people including 36 soldiers were freed in Baghlan province.
