Land dispute leaves eight members of a Nangarhar family dead

Eight members of a family were killed and two others wounded after they came under fire while performing Tarawih prayer in Jalalabad, the capital city of the eastern Nangarhar province.

Talking to Kabul Now, Ziaulhaq Amarkhel, governor of Nangarhar, said that the incident took place last night, April 17, around 09:00 PM in PD9 of Jalalabad city. Initial findings suggest the incident took place inside Haji Abdul Wahab’s house. Five of the dead victims are his sons and three are his nieces, the governor said.

A rival family who has land dispute with the Haji family has reportedly opened fire on the family.

Efforts are underway to arrest the culprits, the governor said.
