Afghan Special Forces free 20 government forces

The Afghan Special Forces freed 20 government forces who were taken as hostages by the Taliban militants in the Khashroad district of Nimroz province, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said today, Saturday, April 17.

A statement issued by the MoD said 17 army forces and three police, who had been kept in Taliban custody, were released in an operation conducted by the Afghan Special Forces.

Seven militants, including Bashir, a Taliban commander in Nimroz, were reportedly killed in the operation.

The Taliban has not made any comment in this regard.

Located in the southwestern part of the country, Nimroz is an insecure province where the Taliban control some areas including Khashroad.
