The Afghan-Pakistani border closed following a clash that erupted between the Afghan and Pakistani forces, a local security official said today, Sunday, April 26.
Yahya Alawi, a spokesperson for the 205 Atal Corps in Kandahar told Kabul Now that a clash erupted between the Afghan and Pakistan security forces in Loqman village of Spin Boldak district of Kandahar at around 9:00 AM and lasted for nearly an hour and a half.
An Afghan government employee was wounded in the clash, Mr. Alawi said.
He said the clash broke after the Pakistani forces made attempt to erect a fence along the disputed border between the two nations.
In October 2018, the Chaman-Spin Boldak border was shut after a bloody exchange of fire between the Pakistani and Afghan forces over a similar dispute.
Yahya Alawi did not comment on causality on the Pakistani side.
Over the last couple of years, Pakistan is trying to build a fence along the volatile Chamman-Spin Boldak, a move that has been deterred by the Afghan forces.
In less than two weeks this is the second clash that erupts between the Afghan and Pakistani forces in Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar.
