Mysterious Killings: Bodies of Three Women Found in Kandahar

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Local sources in Kandahar say the bodies of three women, believed to have been killed under unclear circumstances, have been discovered in Spin Boldak district of the province.

According to the sources, the bodies were found on Monday (February 2) near Sargo Mountain, located in the sixth area of Spin Boldak. The women’s bodies had reportedly been placed inside a sack and buried.

Initial findings suggest that the women were killed several months ago before their bodies were concealed near the mountain, the sources added.

The bodies have been transferred to the government hospital in Spin Boldak district for identification. The identities of the victims and the motive behind the killings remain unknown. Similar cases have been reported previously. About a month ago, local media reported another mysterious killing in Nimruz province, highlighting a recurring pattern of such incidents.

Local Taliban officials in Kandahar have not yet commented on the incident.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, multiple cases of mysterious killings of women have been reported across different provinces. In some instances, domestic violence has been cited as a possible cause, while in many cases the reasons and perpetrators remain unclear.
