KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Local sources in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, report that a teenage boy was found dead in Jaghori district after several days of being missing, as violent crime continues to rise across the country.
The victim, identified as Ali Sina, was a resident of Hotqol Anguri village in Jaghori district. He disappeared on Friday evening along with his motorcycle, and his body was discovered on Monday in the nearby village of Kohna Deh with his throat slit, the sources said.
According to the sources, Taliban forces detained two men in connection with the killing, who admitted to the crime after being arrested while trying to sell Ali Sena’s motorcycle in a local market.
Local Taliban authorities have not commented on the incident.
The killing comes amid a series of targeted attacks and violent crimes across Afghanistan. On Monday, a man described by local sources as a jihadi figure, Arbab Abdul Aziz, was shot dead in Herat province.
Last week, three children were abducted and killed in separate incidents in Kandahar, Helmand, and Kunar provinces. The perpetrators remain unknown, and Taliban authorities have not commented on these incidents
Despite Taliban claims of restoring order, violent crime—including kidnappings, robberies, and targeted killings—continues to rise. Residents say the security situation has worsened due to unemployment, economic hardship, and weak law enforcement, leaving families vulnerable to crime.
Activists note that the surge in abductions and murders highlights the Taliban’s inability to provide the security and stability they promised after returning to power in 2021.
