Taliban Arrest Three in Kunduz over Alleged Ties to Armed Resistance Group

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN The Taliban police command in Kunduz says it has arrested three individuals accused of being members of the National Resistance Front (NRF), an anti-Taliban armed group.

Jumauddin Khaksar, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Kunduz police, said the arrests took place on Friday night (April 4) in the fifth district of Kunduz city.

Khaksar claimed the individuals were apprehended while attempting to throw a hand grenade at a Taliban checkpoint.

He added that, following initial investigations, the detainees were transferred to the group’s judicial authorities.

The NRF has not yet commented on the arrests or the Taliban’s allegations.

Since reclaiming power in August 2021, the Taliban have regularly detained individuals accused of links to the National Resistance Front and the Afghanistan Freedom Front—two armed groups that continue to report attacks against Taliban forces in various provinces.
