Over 20 Afghan Citizens Freed from Pakistani Prisons and Repatriated

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has announced the release of 21 Afghan citizens from prisons in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, stating that they have now returned to Afghanistan.

In a statement on Monday, March 10, the ministry said the individuals entered the country through the Spin Boldak border crossing the previous day.

The ministry noted that they had been detained in various parts of Balochistan for lacking legal documents, with prison terms ranging from five to 25 months. Upon their release, they received assistance before being transported to their home provinces.

The Taliban have previously reported multiple releases of Afghan nationals from Pakistani prisons.

Pakistani authorities have intensified their crackdown on undocumented Afghan migrants, setting a deadline of March 31 for them to leave the country.
