KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – A suicide bombing in Kabul’s southwestern Darulaman area has claimed six lives, including one woman, and injured 13 others, according to Taliban officials.
Khalid Zadran, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Kabul security command, said in a post on X that the explosion occurred Monday afternoon when a suicide bomber detonated explosives in the Qala-e Bakhtiar area in the capital’s police district 6th.
Local sources suggest the death toll might be higher than the official count, with estimates reaching at least 13 fatalities.
Zadran confirmed that all casualties were civilians.
The Taliban spokesperson stated that the injured individuals had been taken to a hospital and that an investigation into the attack was underway.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, ISKP, a regional affiliate of the Islamic State, has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks against the Taliban.
