Eight People Killed and Injured in Gunfire Incidents in Uruzgan and Farah Provinces

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – At least eight people were killed and injured in gunfire incidents in central Uruzgan and southwestern Farah province of Afghanistan on Thursday, April 4, Taliban authorities and local sources reported.

Taliban authorities in Uruzgan province reported that three individuals were killed and another was injured in gunfire near a private hospital in Chahar Chino district of the province.

The Taliban district governor for Chahar Chino district, Mohammad Rafiq Honar, said that the incident occurred on Thursday evening when a guard of the hospital opened fire on local civilians after a verbal argument.

According to him, there was disagreement among locals regarding the extension of the   doctors’ tenure at the hospital.   Some advocated   for the extension while others opposed it. As the argument continued, one of the guards opened fire on the people, resulting in the death of three individuals and injuring one other.

The Taliban authority further mentioned that the assailant has been apprehended.

In another incident in Farah province, an unidentified gunman opened fire on civlians during evening prayer, resulting in the death of three people and injuries to one other.

Local sources told KabulNow that the incident occurred on Thursday night in the Poshtkoh district of the province. According to our sources, the attacker managed to escape the area after the incident.

Confirming the incident, Taliban local authorities attributed it to a 20-year-old personal enmity and quest for revenge. However, they did not provide further details about the incident or whether they had apprehended the perpetrator.

The latest tragic incidents add to a surge of mysterious killings and criminal activities across Afghanistan in recent months. The citizens of the country are concerned about their safety and security, which adds to the mounting challenges they face since the Taliban takeover of the country, despite their claim of maintaining security.

Local sources in western Herat province reported an incident on Wednesday, April 3rd. In Robat Sangi district, a 50-year-old man was fatally shot by a young man over a personal matter.

The day before, on April 2nd, a local source in Herat province reported that a 6-year-old boy, who had been kidnapped by known individuals in Kabul, died a few hours after being released in exchange for a large sum of money. The source told KabulNow that the child passed away due to an overdose of anesthetic drugs administered by the kidnappers.

On the same day, April 2nd, local sources reported that a 46-year-old man, missing for several days, was fatally shot, with his body discovered in the Bala Murghab district of the province. Confirming the incident, the Taliban local authorities claimed that they have arrested two individuals in connection to the incident.
