Taliban forces attempted to abduct a girl in Parwan’s Salang district

Three Taliban forces attempted to abduct a teenage girl in the Salang district of Parwan province when they stormed a home in Du Aab-Dara village, local sources said.

Sources told KabulNow that the Taliban forces pulled the girl out of her home on Tuesday at 9:00 pm trying to force her onto their police vehicle but were scared off when local residents arrived at the scene with stones and sticks.

The Taliban commander in the district, Hamasi, also rushed to the scene in a bid to solve the issue and later took the three suspects away from the area, the sources added.

Residents of the village have demanded that the three Taliban suspects be arrested and punished.

They complained that the Taliban’s forces have previously also attempted kidnapping and forcibly marrying off teenage girls in the province.

Kamran Zaid, Taliban’s provincial spokesperson, did not respond to KabulNow’s questions on this matter.

Earlier this month, a Taliban fighter tried to forcefully marry a 13-year-old girl in the northern Faryab province.

Last month, the Taliban’s governor of eastern Laghman province, Zainul Abidin, 60, married a 16-year-old girl after paying 2.5 million Afghani ($30,000) and 6 acres of land to her family.
