Iranian border guards kill four Afghan citizens in at Nimruz border

Local sources in the western Nimruz province have confirmed to KabulNow that Iranian border guards opened fire on Afghan citizens who were trying to enter Iran, resulting in the deaths of four and injuries to one.

The incident occurred on Saturday night, and the victims were transferred to Numruz Provincial Hospital.

Another source told KabulNow that there were six people killed by the Iranian border guards. The victims were residents of Thor and Daikundi provinces, he added.

Taliban officials in Nimruz have not yet commented on the incident.

Thousands of Afghan citizens enter Iran on a daily basis, seeking employment opportunities, fleeing Taliban rule, or being smuggled to European countries. They often face harsh treatment by Iranian police and border guards, which has sometimes led to deaths.
