Taliban is accused of killing Panjshir businessman in Kabul

Sources in Panjshir province claim that the Taliban has killed a businessman who owned a private security company in Kabul before the group’s return to power in August 2021.

The businessman, named Gholam Mustafa, was a resident of Hesa-e-Awal district in Panjshir province, and was gunned down in Kabul on Thursday after leaving a memorial ceremony at a mosque.

According to a relative, the Taliban shot him and informed his family to collect his body from the Allaudeen Square in the Afghan capital on Thursday. Six bullets were reportedly found in his body. A source stated that the Taliban had previously detained and tortured him twice, demanding weapons.

Gholam Mustafa, the source said, had switched his business into trading gemstones, after the fall of the country to the Taliban.

The Taliban has not commented.
