Taliban Arrest Six Civilians in Khedir District of Daykundi

Local sources confirmed to Kabul Now that the Taliban forces have arrested at least six civilians and besieged women and children inside a house in Udma village of Khedir district, in the central Daykundi province.

A source identified the arrested men as Hussain Ali, Khan Mohammad Muzaffari, Eid Mohammad Danish, Charagh Ali Shujaiee, Nassim Arefi, and Dad Mohammad Poya.

The source told Kabul Now on Sunday, November 27, that Nassim Arefi and Charagh Ali Shujaiee have been released on a bill, and after handing over weapons to the Taliban.

The rest are still in Taliban custody, the source added.

According to the source, the Taliban have also besieged the house of Mohammad Azim Sahar, another resident of the village.  Though Mohammad Azim Sahar has managed to escape his home, women, and children are still trapped inside the besieged house, the source noted.

A local Taliban commander named Mohammad Ali Sadaqat, the source said, has handed over a list of 50 residents of the village to the Taliban authorities in Daykundi.

The local Taliban commander has said that the people on the list are armed opponents of the Taliban.

The source, however, said that all the listed individuals are ordinary people who opposed Sedaqat during the previous government.

Sadaqat was a local strongman and fugitive during the previous government and was accused of murder, kidnappings, and taking ransoms.

Sadaqat has been reportedly involved in a Taliban attack on Sewak-e-Shibar village in the province which left nine people dead, including four children, and several others wounded.
