As many as 18 security forces have lost their lives to latest waves of Taliban violence and 18 others wounded in Ghor, Badghis, and Balkh provinces, according to local officials.
10 security forces were killed after a car bomb went off in a military camp in Shahrak district of the central Ghor province, according to Nik Mohammad Nikzad, police chief of the central Ghor province. He added that the incident took place on Saturday evening, June 05.
Claiming responsibility for the attack, the Taliban said they have overthrown a military base in the district and inflicted heavy casualties on government forces.
In the western Badghis province, five members of Territorial Army – a pro-government militia – were killed in a Taliban ambush in Ab Kamari district of the province. MP Ziauddin Akazi, who represents Badghis in the Parliament, told Kabul Now that the incident took place in Dehistan village of the district on Saturday night, June 05.
He added that the militia commander, Besmillah Khan, is also among the dead victims of the Taliban ambush.

In the northern Balkh province, the Taliban have blown up a car bomb in front of police headquarter of the province’s Balkh district today, June 06. The bombing has left at least three dead and 18 others wounded, said Adel Shah Adel, spokesperson for Balkh police.
He, however, noted that the casualty toll could rise further.
Younus Stanikzai, Balkh district’s governor told Kabul Now that the car bombing has left heavy casualties.
The Taliban militant group claimed responsibility for the attacks in the three provinces claiming that they have inflicted heavy casualties on the government forces.
