Kabul has witnessed an alarming increase in the number of targeted killings, in the form of roadside bomb blasts, stick bomb blasts, and assassinations, in recent months. The security agencies have fallen short to curb violence in the capital Kabul though the government leadership made repeated assurances.

Most attacks that claim lives remain unclaimed but the government accuses the Taliban.
