MoI: 38 police forces arrested over abuse of authority

Talking to Kabul Now, Tariq Arian, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), confirmed that late Monday, June 08, 38 police forces were arrested over “abuse of authority” in 13 provinces.

Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Jawzjan, Samangan, Takhar, Zabul, Khost, Kunduz, Parwan, Baghlan, and Bamyan are the 13 provinces where the police forces have been arrested, he detailed.

According to him, the dossiers of some of the police forces have already been handed over to the country’s military prosecutor office and the dossiers of some others would be handed over the prosecutor office after the initial investigation is over.

This comes a week after the ministry confirmed that 16 police forces, who had been charged with duty negligence, desertion, abuse of authority, and bribery, were introduced to the military prosecutor’s office.

“Leadership of the ministry of interior has intensified structural reforms and addressing complaints of the citizens,” the interior ministry said in a statement.

The interior ministry had introduced over 80 police officers to military prosecutor office last year for embezzlement in the budget of police forces.
