Unidentified Gunmen Kill Young Man in Nangarhar

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Local sources in eastern Nangarhar province say unidentified gunmen have killed a young man in Ghani Khel district.

According to the sources, the victim, identified as Khayal Mohammad, was shot dead on Monday, February 2, in the Shirgar area of Ghani Khel district. He was 32 years old and a resident of the district.

The motive behind the killing remains unknown, and Taliban local authorities in Nangarhar have not yet commented on the incident.

In recent months, similar incidents have also been reported in other parts of the country. A day earlier, local sources in Kandahar said the bodies of three women, believed to have been killed under unclear circumstances, were discovered in Spin Boldak district. According to the sources, the bodies were found on Monday, February 2, near Sargo Mountain, where they had reportedly been placed in a sack and buried. Initial findings indicate the women were killed several months ago before their bodies were concealed.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, reports of killings and violent crimes have increased across various parts of the country. In many cases, the perpetrators are described as “unidentified gunmen,” with the Taliban rarely announcing the identification or prosecution of those responsible.
