KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – Unknown armed assailants have reportedly killed a young shop owner in Kabul, local sources say.
The victim, identified as Mohammad Younus, a native of Panshir’s District 1, ran a mobile phone shop in the city. According to reports, he was attacked in his home on Kotal Khairkhana Road late Wednesday night (February 11).
Authorities have not yet clarified the motive or identity of the perpetrators, and family members say Mohammad Younus had no personal disputes with anyone.
The killing is part of a growing pattern of mysterious deaths and recovered bodies reported across Afghan provinces, raising concerns over public safety.
Previously Taliban security officials in Logar province reported that a woman in her sixties and a 12-year-old girl were killed overnight in the provincial capital.
According to the authorities, two individuals have been detained in connection with the killings. The suspects reportedly broke into a house in Pul-e-Alam on Friday night (November 6), rendered the victims unconscious, and then fatally attacked them with an axe.
The security command said the suspects also stole approximately 200,000 Afghanis and 4,000 US dollars from the residence. The detained individuals have confessed to the crime and are currently under investigation.
These incidents continue despite Taliban claims that security throughout Afghanistan has been fully restored.
