KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul
In a statement released Monday, the ministry said the two officials discussed strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional issues.
Muttaqi reportedly said that Turkey holds a special place in the Taliban’s foreign policy and stressed the need to further enhance cooperation as ties between the two countries deepen.
According to the ministry, Minister Fidan also underscored the importance of expanding cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkey across various sectors.
Muttaqi arrived in Istanbul two days earlier to attend the OIC meeting.
