KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – The National Resistance Front (NRF), an armed anti-Taliban group, claims to have attacked the convoy of the Taliban’s Minister of Energy and Water, Abud Latif Mansour, in Kabul, killing his bodyguard and injuring two other members.
In a post on X, the NRF stated that the attack took place around 3:30 PM on Tuesday in Kabul’s Khair Khana neighborhood. It also mentioned that neither civilians nor its armed forces suffered any casualties in the operation.
The armed group vowed to continue its targeted operations against the Taliban, referring to them as a “terrorist group,” and to “liberate” the country and its people from their oppressive rule.
The Taliban authorities have not yet commented on this attack.
This incident is the latest in a series of attacks recently reported by the NRF in Kabul and other major cities. The armed resistance group claims to have carried out 25 attacks on the Taliban in several provinces over the past month, resulting in the death and injury of 71 Taliban members.
The group’s leader, Ahmad Massoud, said in a recent interview with CNN that the NRF fields approximately 5,000 active fighters. He added that their fight goes beyond confronting the Taliban, as they are also targeting up to 20 other terrorist organizations operating within Afghanistan.
