Azerbaijan security services have arrested a citizen of Afghanistan, suspected of planning a terrorist attack on the Israeli Embassy in Baku.
The suspect, identified as Fawzan Mosa Khan, 33, and other potential individuals were detained on Monday on charges of “conspiring a terrorist attack on the embassy of a third country” in Baku, The Jerusalem Post reports.
In a video released by Azerbaijan’s State Security Service, Khan is shown surveilling the Baku Hayat hotel where the Israeli mission is located, and discussing how he “would monitor the target of attack”.
Khan was allegedly planning to use explosives and other weapons in an attack on the embassy with the intention of causing harm to individuals and significant damage to property, the State Security Service revealed.
No further details about the alleged plot have been revealed.
Last month, Indian Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) said it has arrested four people with the intention of traveling to Afghanistan to join the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).
