Taliban: We are listening to our Russian friends on human rights issues

Taliban foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, has told the Russian special envoy to Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, that the group was listening to Moscow on forming an “inclusive government” and “human rights issues.”

The Russian envoy visited Kabul last Thursday and was told by the Taliban foreign minister that Russia had a “special importance” in the group’s foreign policy.

The Russian embassy in Kabul, according to Tass news agency, said that the two men discussed “problems of the development of trade and economic ties, including the growth of Russian imports and the formation of favorable conditions for Afghan exports to Russia, as well as cooperation in combating terrorism and the drug threat.”
