The National Defense and Security Forces (NDSF) have reclaimed Warsaj district of the northern Takhar province, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement issued today, August 09.
On Sunday, August 08, a member of Takhar Provincial Council told Kabul Now that the َANDSF had retreated to Warsaj and Farkhar districts to prevent civilian casualties and damages to public facilities.
This is while, Taloqan, the provincial capital of Takhar, has fallen to the Taliban.
Warsaj is a strategic district in Takhar that shares borders with Panjshir, Baghlan, and Badakhshan provinces.
The Taliban has not yet commented on the incident.
As fierce fighting drags on across the country, the Ministry of Interior says that Afghan forces have defused Taliban offensive in the southern Kandahar and Helmand provinces and in the western Herat province.
